I'm a Theravada Buddhist in his early thirties, and I'm looking for penpals to share views and opinions on Buddhism (either Theravada or other paths) and life in general. I can also help anybody interested in learning the Pali language, that of the Tipitaka Pali Canon of Sri Lanka, and I can give tips to newcomers to get started in Dhamma. I'm a male, 61, married and have been a Buddhist for about 8 years. A native Californian I live about 30 miles east of Los Angeles. I'm reluctantly semi-retired, currently working part-time as a musician. I cycle, play bridge, surf the net for challenging piano music. I'm also something of a gym rat. Love all kinds of literature, esp. European. I've learned from all Dharma traditions, but currently practice in the Mahayana tradition. Also have interest in Kundalini and Bikram yoga.

I am Japanese, 40's. I think Buddhism is not beautiful philosophy. It is important to put it into our daily life even if we face any hardships and difficulty. We should become a candle and shine surroundings around us.There is no shadow around a Candle!

If you think you train yourself in order to become happier life in next life.it is too late.We should find out true Buddhism that would guide us to get true happiness and to break free from Karma in This Life!! Hello. My name is Anthony and I've been seeking a new pen pal as my last one joined a Theravadin monastery and I don't hear from him much any more. I like to write about how I see Buddhist truths in daily life, and I love to read the same of your observations. I'm kind of serious and a little cynical. I don't believe that it is necessarily ethical or positive to practice yoga, meditate, and eat vegetarian even though I often do all three. I can't help but look deeper into my own motivations as well as those of others. Usually it seems obvious that most actions are taken because of egotistical driven intentions even when the individual (including me) is oblivious to it. However, I'm not into Psychology - Psychology is too complicated. I think Buddhism gives people a knife to cut through suffering, and it appears that's the only tool worth having. Nonetheless, despite that truth I'm still afraid of losing my job or running out of food and heat too. I guess I want my enlightenment and eat it too.

At times I am irreverent and questioning, so I can't help but look for confirmations of Buddhist truths in art, literature, and life even though I read translations of the old Buddhist classic texts.

So I don't know if you would like to write me. Sometimes I am depressed, although by conventional standards I'm living a decent life. I don't transmit happiness well through emails. However, I feel that whatever I've learned in the way of Buddhist truths seemed true to me from the minute I heard them and I cannot deny that I find the teachings to be the only truth I have learned. I also do my best to alleviate suffering of others whenever I can and I try to get better at this each day.

Hello, It would be great to take the time to get to know other Buddhist friends from all over the world. I am single and 41 years old and live in Michigan. I have considered myself Buddhist for the last 20 years. I am a vegetarian and I meditate on my practice everyday. I enjoy many things, especially having to do with being in the outdoors, Hiking with my dog, kayaking, biking, birdwatching, gardening, skiing, snowshoeing (lot's of snow here-it's great if you are a little flaky :) xtraining, traveling and photography. I am quite settled with my Buddhist faith and I try to live by 'Right Lively-hood' I say Lively because I am always testing myself to make sure that I do as I say...trying to catch myself in my karmic actions to root deeper into the problem of suffering. What would be nice would be to find someone who also considers themselves on the true path through Buddhism and that we could become good friends in support of one another and also enjoy each others thoughts and interests.
I have many others interests but their is so little room to expand on them in this posting box.

I hope that something that I have said intrigues you enough to reply.

I am a 37 year old working mother. Years ago I was very active in a Buddhist center in the US and was a dedicated practitioner, but over the last few years my practice has waned. I now live in Australia, have a non-Buddhist partner, have very little quiet alone time, and haven't been a part of a spiritual community in ages. I can really see the effect of the lack of practice on my thoughts, speech and actions, especially now that I am presented with the challenges of partnership and motherhood. I just finished reading "Buddhism for Mothers" and am inspired to return to Buddhist practice. I'd like to find a supportive community as it seems that being part of a spiritual community really helps in staying focused and commited. I'd love to hear from other mothers, and/or those who have had lapses in their practice and have returned or want to return to Buddhist ways of living. Thanks and best wishes.

I have little or no understanding about Buddhism and its' principles, though I find myself drawn to it. I recently started meditating and find that any lonlieness I had has evaporated, replaced by a feeling of peace and interconnectedness.
